See NYC Like a Local

How every traveler should see the Big Apple...

Many people dream of traveling to New York. As a local, I feel like I have a lot of things to share, especially to those who visit NYC for the first time. Since New York City can be pretty overwhelming, I’ve decided to create a (non-boring) checklist of how travelers can enjoy the hidden delights of our city. What’s the use of being a creative genius if I don’t let you in on this nifty little secret?

Instead of making an itinerary list, use a bingo card. Bingo has been around for centuries, and its now popular among everyone from retired Florida grandmas to drag sassy queens. And just like most things, it can be played with a twist. New varieties of the game such as fashion, humor, and music bingo have also surfaced via the Internet.

Bingogodz (a UK online bingo portal) recently mentioned about the uprise in bingo variants, “bingo has amazing features that offer brand new ways to approach daily options.”

So, instead of using a bingo card the conventional way, replace B-I-N-G-O with tips on how you can see the city like a true New Yorker. Here are some options you may opt to apply to your travel bingo card:

- Take the bus or the subway (unlike what you see in the movies, we rarely take cabs) - Walk – this is the best way to see and experience NYC (just don’t walk around looking up) - Eat a slice (or more) of a good ol’ 99-cent NYC pizza - Shop at SOHO district (it’s all there) - If you want to experience some NYC nightlife, the “Meat Packing District” (I know), is the place to go

Make sure to tick off each box according to the winning patterns. This should ensure that you haven't missed anything on your list. Once you've filled out one card, feel free to make a new one - there are just so many places to see and things to do in New York, that the possibilities are endless. Hey, we aren't called "the City That Never Sleeps" for nothing!
